About Alyssa M. Cook, AuD
Alyssa Cook, AuD, is a board-certified audiologist who specializes in diagnosing and treating hearing and balance disorders. She provides cochlear implant services to patients of all ages. In addition to cochlear implants, she has extensive expertise with hearing aids, bone conduction devices and auditory brainstem implants. She works closely with an interdisciplinary team at Keck Medicine of USC, including with specialists from otology, speech-language pathology and educational services, to provide comprehensive, coordinated, patient-centered care.

Dr. Cook is especially passionate about working with pediatric patients and helping them utilize all forms of hearing technologies. Her patients and their families can always rely on her to provide a safe and welcoming environment, with treatments tailored to meet each child’s development needs and align with each family’s cultural values. Dr. Cook also educates her patients about research opportunities available at Keck Medicine and stays up to date on the latest innovations and treatment recommendations.

She strongly values shared decision-making and empowers each family to take an active role in their child’s auditory care. Whether navigating a new diagnosis or providing ongoing hearing care, Dr. Cook is dedicated to supporting her patients and their families through what can be an emotional and unfamiliar journey. She believes every child deserves the chance to connect, learn and thrive, and that every family deserves to feel seen, heard and encouraged along the way.

In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Cook is passionate about mentoring and training the next generation of audiologists as a clinical assistant professor of otolaryngology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. She supports students in the early stages of their doctoral programs through observation and clinical rotations and serves as a preceptor for residents.

Having grown up in San Diego, Dr. Cook consider herself a forever Southern California girl. Outside of work, she enjoys water skiing and spending time at beaches, lakes and rivers. In recent years, she has also discovered a love for snow skiing. A devoted animal lover, Dr. Cook cherishes time with her dog, who often joins her on her many adventures.
As a pediatric audiologist, my philosophy of care is rooted in compassion, respect and the creation of a safe, supportive space for children and their families. I believe that pediatric audiology goes beyond diagnosis and treatment; it is about building trust, empowering families and walking alongside them with compassion and without judgment. My goal is to support each child’s access to language and communication in a way that honors their unique journey.
